“I have known Valeria Matzner for a while on Toronto’s Latin and World Music scene and have seen her develop as an artist with confidence and grace. Her Cd Anima is a lush, contemporary sounding collection of Jazz compositions featuring Latin, Brazilian and English lyrics. Elegant arrangements, subtle vocals and interesting play with rhythm courtesy of Max Senitt provide a nice variety to the collection. The album features some of Canada’s finest including Scott Metcalfe on piano, Scott Kemp on bass and Max Senitt on drums. Alexander Brown, Luis Denis and Alex Gajic also make guest appearances and add nice depth to the arrangements. I enjoyed the listen, my fave tracks so far Lua Cheia and Contemporaneo. Will definitely listen again!”
